Known Races of Trib and Humm:

Hynurs - Human race from another continent? No one knows, including the Hynurs? Warriors that give war-like a new meaning. They once overran both continents and thus controlled everything and everyone. The current Emperor still rules about 25% of Trib from the Winter Palace. Hynurs are in awe of the elves and dwarves. They do respect all demi-humans. They still view the other humans as misguided in need of thier aid.

Human - Barbarians until the Hynurs conquered them. There is still a small number of barbarians loose on Trib. It is said the Hynurs give them their freedom for services provided in the distant past in the fight against the "Dark Ones".

Elf - Tolkien-like elves. Cities and homelands for the most part are unknown. Hynurs provided forests and protection to the elves for past services. No one knows why the Hynurs like the Elves or Dwarves so much. Hynur has went to the aid of any Elf nation, when requested.

Dwarf - Tolkien-like dwarves. Hynurs provided the dwarves with mountains to live under and protection for past services.

Gnomes - 1st edition AD&D-like gnomes. Hynurs provided hills and protection for past services.

Halflings - 1st edition AD&D-like halflings. Hynurs provided hills and protection for past services.

Dark Ones - The dark overlords of Trib and Humm before the Hynurs arrived. It is said that the demi-humans and the Hynurs drove the Dark Ones from Trib and Humm. The Dark Ones later took their revenge and destroyed the Hynur Empire and reduced it and the Trib continent to its present state. Like to nothing is known about the Dark Ones. They must have been very evil to only be talked about in whispers, if at all.

Humanoids - There are small numbers of various kinds humanoids found in Trib. Mostly they are found in the forests, hills, and mountains. There are whole nations of humanoids found in the Humm continent. Most of the humanoids were driven to Humm the Hynurs over ran the continent of Trib years ago.

        Areas of Interest:

Dark Desert - Once said to been rich with life and animals. The Dark Desert is now a barren wasteland. It has been rumored that a sect of the Hynurs fought with another sect and destroyed this land. Others said that the Dark Ones destroyed this area in thier war with the Hynurs many ages ago.

Great Swamp - A vast swamp. See above rumors. The Great Swamp is main entrance to the Trib continent from Humm. Currently, the Lonely Coast city states with help, have created the Great Gate to prevent Trib and themselves from being over run by humanoids. There have been tales of lost cities and artifacts being found here and in the Dark Desert. Large numbers of Lizardmen and other water-loving creatures now live in the Great Swamp.

Drift Islands - These islands are still as place of great mystery. Little is known about this island chain off the western coast of the Trib continent. Old legends talk of an ancient race that retreated to isles to flee the evil rule of the Dark Ones. It is known that no ship entering this area ever returns. A famous mage, Kiko, wrote that he and a group of travellers landed on one of the islands. Kiko was looking for rare spell components, artifacts, and the truth to the rumors that some race of humans or demi-humans lived on the islands??

Kiko wrote that the islands are surrounds by a cloak of vapors and clouds. His ship was heavily damaged and would never sail again. The landing had been a quiet one. Kiko and his party started exploring and found a forest-like environment.

        Kiko wrote in his journal:
"I saw people moving in the shadows in the trees. They kept thier distance as if they were watching our party.... Soon they came forth and greeted us... They were kind and pleasant... The people were human, with dark tans and fair hair..." "The magic users of these islands used a large stone centered in the village as a focus... The people of the isles tried to stop all of the attempts to leave the island.... Some of the party was wounded and a few killed... We were forced to flee and hide in the forests...In my studies of the stone, I think I have found a way to get home..."

Kiko was said to have used the powers of the stone to teleport the remaining members of his party back to mainland of Trib? But these are only rumors.

Scron (Another magic user of great power) was said to have travelled to these islands as well. Was he seeking a source of magical power? Or was he looking for the stone's use for evil?

        Scron wrote:
"I have teleported with my henchmen to an unknown magical source of great power. The natives (note to self: Kiko was correct..) were friendly and offered my group food and drink. They propose no threat... After studying the source, a red ruby colored stone (~15 to 20 feet tall, 3 to 5 feet across), I see no way of removing the stone at present!..."

"I have tapped its' fire, and it is unbelieveable!! The power, the knowledge of those that made this source must have been god-like. After the natives tried to kill some of the group (They were trying to get at an old burial site)... We were forced to flee with great haste!"

"The magical users of the island seemed to be unadapt at magic. They knew low level spells at best. But in fury (I and my henchmen have the scars to prove it...) they seem to be able to cast spells of great power! The stone is connected in this somehow....(note to self: Research this! Plan to return...)". No one knows if Scron ever returned or not.

Pirate Islands - The Pirate Islands off the eastern coast of Trib were established over 500 years ago. The first pirates were convicts or prisoners on the run. These earlier settlers found a island chain rich in natural resources. As the years passed, the pirates started to raid shipping and coastal settlements. The pirates quickly became enemies of all of the coastal countries of Trib. Looking for slaves and black market items? The Pirate Islands is one of the best places to look. No questions are ever asked. Merchants pay a good price to sell thier wares here as they know there will be no problems with legal questions. The Assassin's guild has a presence on the islands. It is the only place known to have a known location of assassins.

There are Five Known Rulers of the Pirate Islands:

        Admiral of the Islands
        General of the Islands
        Mage of the Islands
        Priest of the Islands
        Merchant of the Islands

These 5 individuals co-rule the island chain and set all policies and laws. There is very little known of these individuals. Perhaps, they want to keep thier identities secret and remain among the living??
